Tickets Go On Sale at 10am Friday, April 20 at Ticketmaster Outlets

Fairfax, VA (April 18, 2012) — Jimmy Lange Boxing officials announced today that a 10-Round Middleweight Beltway Battle between Virginia fan favorite Jimmy Lange (38-4-2, 25 KOs) and popular Maryland fighter Tony “Mo Better” Jeter (13-3-1, 9 KOs) will headline its next card on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Patriot Center. Tickets, starting at $35 and available through all Ticketmaster Outlets including the Patriot Center box office, go on sale this Friday, April 20 at 10:00 am. The event is presented by Valcourt Building Services.

Considered one of the top showcases of its kind in the country, the event will feature an all-star undercard led by World Boxing Council (WBC) and Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA) female middleweight champion Tori “Sho Nuff” Nelson (6-0-1) of Ashburn, VA, undefeated junior welterweight Todd “White Lightning” Wilson (13-0, 3 KOs) of Fairfax, VA, and rising unbeaten heavyweight Duane Mobley (1-0) of Upper Marlboro, MD. Highly regarded teenage welterweight prospect Dusty Harrison (5-0, 2 KOs) of Washington, DC will make his Patriot Center debut on the card. The high school senior will be eligible for a Virginia boxing license on May 21 when he turns 18. Fighters’ opponents are to be determined.

This will be Lange’s first bout against a local boxer at the Patriot Center since defeating Perry Ballard on September 17, 2005. The former season one star from The Contender television series has headlined all 14 previous Patriot Center cards, compiling an 11-2-1 record. He’s on a seven-bout winning streak, having captured the World Boxing Union (WBU) Junior Middleweight and the World Boxing Council (WBC) NABA USA Light Middleweight belts along the way. In his last fight held February 11, 2012 in Fairfax, Lange scored a unanimous 12-round decision over Ruben Galvan.

Jeter is known for his punching prowess, which was on display during his Patriot Center debut on September 26, 2009, when he dropped Keith Gross with a devastating right that earned “KO of the Year” honors from Boxing Along the Beltway. This will be Jeter’s toughest opponent to date and first 10-round contest (Lange has gone 10 rounds six times and 12 rounds three times). The Stevensville, MD boxer went 9-0-1 following a two-and-a-half year hiatus from the sport before being upset by Jose Felix last December. Jeter avenged his loss to Felix two months later capturing the eight-round rematch and the Universal Boxing Organization (UBO) All-America and United States Boxing Union (USBU) Middleweight belts.

Lange and Jeter share one common opponent: tough Baltimore journeyman Mike McFail, whom they both defeated, Lange twice.

Doors will open at 6:00 pm, with the first fight scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm. All bouts are subject to change. Jackie “First Lady of Boxing” Kallen is the promoter with matchmaking handled by JD Brown.

Tickets, priced at $35, $50, $75, $125, $200, $300 and $500 (plus applicable service charges), will be available for purchase through all Ticketmaster outlets including the Patriot Center box office, online at www.ticketmaster.com/ and via Phonecharge at 703-573-SEAT, 202-397-SEAT and 410-547-SEAT.

FAIRFAX, VA – Jimmy Lange knocked Raul “El Toro” Munoz down three times in the 6th round to notch a TKO win and win the World Boxing Union’s (WBU)vacant 154-lb championship. The victory brings Lange’s record to 37-4-2, 24 KOs, while Munoz falls to 22-15-1, 16 KOs. It was the Great Falls fighter’s 13th headlining show at the Patriot Center on the George Mason University campus.

In the second round both fighters took turns swapping punches and while not in serious trouble Munoz did seem to have the upper hand in the second and third rounds.

In the fourth round Lange began to gain control and a solid right to Munoz’ chin in the fifth was the turning point. In the 6th round Lange came off the ropes and caught Munoz with a left hook for the first knock down of the round. He ended up knocking Munoz down two more times before the fight was stopped.

“I did not think a lot of things were working early for me. I was going to the body and using my jab but I don’t think I hurt him at all early,” said Jimmy Lange. “I think in the 4th round things started to turn for me.”

“I thought it was a great fight and that Jimmy followed his plan and set up Raul” said manager/father Johnny Lange at the post-fight press conference. “I also want to thank a lot of people who have helped Jimmy get here tonight.”

“I thought I was gradually wearing him down and maybe could get him in the 7th or 8th round,” said Lange. “But in the 6th I caught him with a left hook for the first knock down and I don’t think he ever really covered. .”

Fellow Contenders Jonathan Reid and Michael Stewart plus undefeated No.VA fighters Todd Wilson and Zain Shah to be showcased at Jimmy Lange Boxing

Fairfax, VA (July 29, 2011) – Hometown favorite and former Contender reality TV show star Jimmy Lange (36-4-2, 24 KOs) will headline his 13th show at the Patriot Center with a 10-round contest (opponent TBD) on Saturday, September 10, 2011. Presented by Valcourt Building Services, Jimmy Lange Boxing is the mid-Atlantic region’s top professional boxing show, drawing thousands of enthusiastic fans and featuring action-packed fights. Ticket prices range from $35 to $500 (VIP Ringside) and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets.

The eight-round co-main event will feature a junior middleweight clash between Jonathan “Reid Dawg” Reid (35-12, 19 KOs) of Nashville, TN and George “Wartime” Rivera (12-6, 4 KOs) of Charlottesville, VA. Both fighters emerged victorious — Reid over Mike McFail, Rivera against Shakir Ashanti — on the last Patriot Center card held on March 12, 2011. A Contender teammate and former opponent of Lange’s, Reid is more battle-tested, having faced the likes of William Joppy, Pawel Wolak and Jesse Brinkley. Meanwhile, Rivera is undefeated at the Patriot Center and is 6-1 when fighting in Northern Virginia.

Former No. 1 junior welterweight contender, Michael “No Joke” Stewart (47-6-3, 24 KOs) of New Castle, DE will make his Washington, D.C. area debut in a six-round special attraction bout (opponent TBD). A former USBA light welterweight title holder, he fought to a draw against David Torres for the vacant NABA light welterweight title last February in Dover, DE. Stewart competed in the second season of The Contender, losing to eventual winner Grady Brewer in the quarterfinals. The 15-year veteran has faced former world champions Ricky Hatton and D.C.’s own Sharmba Mitchell and beaten Ivan Robinson, Terron Millett and Charles Tschorniawsky during his career

A pair of undefeated Northern Virginia prospects with strong followings, Fairfax welterweight Todd “White” Lightning” Wilson (10-0, 4 KOs) and junior middleweight Zain “Tiger” Shah (5-0, 3 KOs) of Chantilly, will seek to keep their winning streaks alive in six-round contests.

Wilson, a business development specialist at Booz Allen Hamilton and former collegiate champion at Virginia Military Institute, is anxious to get back in the ring after his last fight was stopped prematurely at the end of the third round when Dean White was disqualified for excessive holding and hitting after the bell. Wilson, who fights out of Annandale Boxing Club, will face former Florida State USA titlist Raymond Betancourt (8-6, 3 KOs) of West Palm Beach, FL.

Training out of LA Boxing’s Reston gym, Shah will take on Julius “Vicious” Kennedy (7-2-1, 3 KOs), his second straight Baltimore opponent at the Patriot Center. Shah won a close decision against a tough Omar Sims last year in Fairfax and can expect another battle on his hands with Kennedy. Earlier this year, Shaw TKO’d Tevin Parker for his fifth win. Kennedy has looked sharp in his last two bouts, losing in a fight-of-the-year contest with Scott “Cujo” Sigmon and drawing with Jessie Nicklow in an equally-entertaining slugfest prior to that.

Lynchburg, VA’s Sigmon (16-3, 8 KOs), known for his hard-charging style and loyal fan base who travel well especially in and around the Beltway region, will battle Bruce “The Rage” Rumbolz (22-22-2, 13 KOs) in an eight-round bout. Sigmon dropped a 10-round decision to undefeated Chris Patrick last month in Greensboro, NC, snapping an eight-bout win streak.

Popular LA Boxing trainer Lawrence Jones (3-5-2, 1 KO) of Reston, VA will make his fourth Patriot Center appearance when he takes on Jose Felix (10-9-2, 3 KOs) of Richmond Hill, GA in a six-round contest. Jones, who lost a split decision to Todd Eriksson earlier this year, has gone 1-1-1 in front of his hometown supporters in Fairfax.

Tickets, priced at $35, $50, $75, $125, $300 and $500 (plus applicable service charges), can be bought through all Ticketmaster outlets including the Patriot Center box office, online at www.ticketmaster.com/ and via Phonecharge at 703-573-SEAT, 202-397-SEAT and 410-547-SEAT.

Set To Fight Celebrity Mario Lopez at City of Hope Charity Event April 6

Fairfax, VA (March 28, 2011) — After earning his 35th victory on March 12, Jimmy Lange (35-4-2, 24 KOs), former star of The Contender TV show, is headed back to Hollywood. The NABA U.S. Super Welterweight Champion will fight actor/host/author Mario Lopez (Extra, Saved by the Bell, Dancing with the Stars) in a three-round celebrity exhibition bout at the Sports L.A’s KO Cancer charity event on Wednesday, April 6 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA.

“I’m honored to be part of such a worthy cause and help raise money and awareness for the City of Hope. I look forward to stepping into the ring with Mario to see what he’s got. I just hope that the referee doesn’t need to step in to give Mario time to be ‘saved by the bell’,” said Lange, who combines movie-star looks with a cool, calm demeanor both in and outside of the ring – providing a perfect personality and experience for this event.

Benefiting City of Hope, one of 40 national Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers, the event will honor three boxing luminaries whose lives have been depicted on the big screen: former world champions Micky Ward (“The Fighter”) and Jake LaMotta (“Raging Bull”) and “First Lady of Boxing” Jackie Kallen (“Against the Ropes”). Prominent attorney Robert Shapiro will serve as master of ceremonies at the event which will also feature a pair of heavyweight fights.

Lange appeared on the first season of the NBC reality boxing show in 2005 where he developed a loyal following. While he lost in week eight, viewers voted him back as a “Fan Favorite” where he won his return bout. Since his reality show appearance, Lange has captured the WBC’s USNBC and Continental America’s 154-pound titles while averaging 5,000 hometown fans at the Patriot Center.

Although Lange is quick to point that he still has unfinished business in the ring as he continues to challenge for a world championship, the 13-year veteran has also expressed an interest in pursuing a career in the entertainment world once he retires from boxing. In fact, he had a small role in “The House That Jack Build” and is cast in “Five Good Years,” currently in pre-production.

Catch the next Jimmy Lange Boxing event on September 10, 2011 at the Patriot Center.

Wilson and Jeter Lead All-Star Undercard

FAIRFAX, VA — Boxing’s biggest show in the Washington, DC area returns to the Patriot Center on Saturday, March 12 with hometown fighter Jimmy Lange (34-4-2, 24 KOs) squaring off against Jimmy Holmes (19-1, 10 KOs) of DeMotte, IN, in the Main Event. The 10-round bout will be contested at 160 pounds. Tickets for Jimmy Lange Boxing, an Ice Promotions event presented by Valcourt Building Services, start at $35 and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets.

Lange, who is headlining his 12th Patriot Center show, returns to the ring after scoring a dramatic 10th round knockout against Joe Wyatt last November. In typical fashion, the former Contender season one star slugged it out with his opponent, going toe-to-toe before landing a powerful right hook in the closing minute of the fight to secure his 34th win. He earned the North American Boxing Association’s (NABA) 154-pound U.S. title with the victory, sending him to a world-ranking of 15 by the World Boxing Association.

Known as “The Fighting School Teacher” for his job as a physical education teacher at Roselawn (IN) Elementary School (an hour southeast of Chicago, IL), Holmes captured his 19th win with a first-round TKO over Joseph Harden last December. An Indiana fan favorite who captured the state’s middleweight title, Holmes will venture outside of the state for the first time when he heads east to Fairfax.

Local fan favorites — undefeated Fairfax welterweight Todd “White Lightning” Wilson (9-0, 3 KOs) and middleweight Tony “Mo Better” Jeter (10-2-1, 9 KOs) of Stevensville, MD – lead a strong undercard lineup for the show.

Wilson, a former collegiate boxing champion at Virginia Military Institute (VMI) who works full-time in business development for Booz Allen Hamilton, is gunning for his tenth win after scoring a third-round TKO against Corey Goodwin last November at the Patriot Center. Since he turned pro in 2007, Wilson has developed a loyal following, complete with an ‘army’ of supporters clad in Kelly green t-shirts and a memorable ring entrance featuring a bag pipe player.

Meanwhile, Jeter has gone unbeaten in his last seven fights since returning to the sport in 2008 following a two-year hiatus. Two months ago, Jeter registered a second-round KO over Adrian Redmond. He’s probably best known to Patriot Center boxing fans for his devastating, one-punch knockout of Keith Gross on September 26, 2009. Both fighters are scheduled for six-round bouts against opponents TBD.

Heavyweights Ron “Heavy Duty” Gamble (1-0, 1 KO) of Arnold, MD and Abodurin “Bo” Akinyanju (3-1, 3 KOs) of Landover, MD will clash in a four-round contest of big hitters.

Gamble, a police officer, is a former All-Metropolitan football player at Hammond (Columbia, MD) High School and four-year starter at the University of Connecticut. The 6’2”, 254-pound heavyweight started boxing at age 28, compiling an amateur record of 11-3, including a win over Akinyanju in the semifinals of the 2009 Washington Golden Gloves competition. Gamble scored a second–round TKO over Vashawn Tomlin in his pro debut last November.

An aggressive southpaw who also stands 6’2”, Akinyanju boasts more ring experience than his opponent having fought 50 times as an amateur. Promising to be in better physical condition for their rematch, Akinyanju will look to exact his revenge after falling to Gamble during his amateur days. He suffered his first pro loss last November to Kevin Howard after winning his first three bouts via knockouts.

Charlottesville, VA middleweight George “Wartime” Rivera (11-6, 4 KOs) will face Shakir Ashante (16-9, 4 KOs) of Greensboro, NC in a six-round contest, looking for his 12th win after losing his last two fights to John Mackey and James Stevenson, respectively, in 2010. Rivera notched his best win to date at the Patriot Center on November, 1 2008 when he beat then undefeated Jessie Nicklow in a grudge rematch.

Ashante, who has fought former WBA world titlist Yuri Foreman, beat Alex Quiroga in his last bout more than a year ago.

All bouts are subject to change. Doors will open at 6:00 pm with the first fight scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.

Tickets, priced at $35, $50, $75, $125, $200, $300 and $500 (plus applicable service charges), can be bought through all Ticketmaster outlets including the Patriot Center box office, online at www.ticketmaster.com/ and via phonecharge at 703-573-SEAT, 202-397-SEAT and 410-547-SEAT. Accessible seating is available for patrons with disabilities by calling 703-993-3035.

Jimmy Lange Boxing events live up to their top billing and high acclaim as the best of its kind in town. Each show delivers action-packed fights, showcasing rising prospects, established veterans, and former world titlists in front of 5,000 enthusiastic fans. From his rock star ring entrances and aggressive and entertaining fighting style, headliner Jimmy Lange always delivers an exciting performance.
