Junior middleweight contender Jimmy Lange (33-4-2, 23 KOs) won last night in Greensboro with a convincing six-round decision (60-50, 60-50, 59-52) over Mike McFail (12-40-2, 4 KOs) highlighted by a pair of knockdowns (3rd and 6th rounds) both courtesy of an effective right. Lange came out dominating in the first round at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex’s War Memorial Auditorium utilizing his trademark stiff jab causing enough damage where McFail was issued a standing eight count. The former Contender star fighting out of Great Falls, VA pressed the action throughout the contest and finished strongly by battering a game, but wobbly Baltimore-based McFail in the final stanza.
Lange immediately heads back to Gleason’s Gym in New York with trainer Jimmy Glenn to prepare for a co-main event bout (opponent TBD) on a September 18 show in Monroe, MI. He is scheduled to return home to the Patriot Center on November 6 to headline another Ice Promotions card presented by Valcourt Building Services.

FAIRFAX, VA (June 16, 2010) – On July 10 at the Patriot Center, popular junior middleweight contender, Jimmy Lange (31-4-2, 22 KOs) of Great Falls, VA looks to get back on the winning track when he goes head-to-head against ring veteran Jimmy LeBlanc (12-16-4, 4 KOs) of Weymouth, MA in the Main Event. The show will take place at the George Mason University campus facility which will be Lange’s tenth straight bout on his home turf. The 10-round headliner is part of “No Excuses,” an Ice Promotions event (www.jimmylangeboxing.com) presented by Valcourt Building Services (www.valcourt.net) featuring top professional boxing. Tickets start at only $35 and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Patriot Center box office.
Lange, a former star on the first season of The Contender reality TV boxing show, has held two World Boxing Championship (WBC) regional belts (Continental Americas and USNBC). After losing a 12-round decision to Chase Shields back in March, he is seeking a victory over LeBlanc, who has consistently faced tough opponents during his 12-year career; including former World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight champion Yuri Foreman. In fact, the combined record of LeBlanc’s opponents over the past five years is 91-21-6. Two years ago, LeBlanc stunned the Patriot Center crowd by knocking out former local contender Luther Smith in the first round. The Boston-based boxer lost his last fight to undefeated Irish prospect Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan via a fourth-round disqualification in March 2009.
Middleweight Jonathan Reid (34-12, 19 KOs), Lange’s teammate from The Contender, and undefeated welterweight prospect Todd “White Lighting” Wilson (7-0, 1 KO) of Falls Church, VA have been added to the already action-packed lineup. Opponents for both fighters are to be determined.
Reid and Lange waged a war when they faced off last September at the Patriot Center. Both fighters earned praise and respect for the exciting fight with Lange emerging victorious by way of a nine-round TKO. Fighting out of Nashville, TN, Reid has faced world-class talents such as Pawel Wolak, Maxim Vlasov, Paul Smith and former D.C. world champion William Joppy during his career.
Fighting out of Annandale (VA) Boxing Club, Wilson has developed a strong local following since turning pro in 2007. He pulled out a tough win over Dontre King in his last bout held four months ago in Baltimore. As an amateur competing for Virginia Military Institute, the tough southpaw captured the 139-pound national championship in 2004.
Hard-punching Zain “The Tiger” Shah (2-0, 2 KOs) of Chantilly, VA will take on Washington, DC’s Antonio Walls (2-3, 1 KO) in a four-round middleweight contest. Shah cut his teeth at Finley’s Gym in DC, but now calls Annandale Boys Club home. He earned 25 wins as an amateur and was the Potomac Valley, MD, VA & DC open class and novice Golden Glove Champion. Standing in his way will be Walls, who trains out of Tony Bell’s gym in the District, looking to end a three-fight losing streak.
In other action, “The Bolivian Queen” Jennifer Salinas (11-1, 4 KOs) of Manassas, VA is set to face Montreal, Quebec’s Nathalie Forget (2-1) in a six-round featherweight contest. The popular Salinas, who serves as an instructor and trains out of LA Boxing, won her last two fights in 2009, both staged at the Patriot Center. She looks to continue working her way up the ranks towards title contention against Forget, a former top amateur competitor.
The eight-round co-main event features a welterweight showdown between Baltimore’s Tim “The Pitbull” Coleman (17-1-1, 4 KOs) and tough Detroit southpaw Damian Fuller (30-7-1, 14 KOs). Other bouts previously announced are Juan “The Savior” Rodriguez (4-0, 4 KOs) of Haymarket, VA vs. Dontre King (2-7-1, 1 KOs) of Cambridge, MD (six-round welterweight); Tony “Mo Better” Jeter (9-2, 8 KOs) of Columbia, MD vs. Lawrence Jones (3-2-1, 1 KO) of Reston, VA (six-round middleweight); Brandon Quarles (pro debut) of Alexandria, VA vs. Vince “The Beast” Batteast (1-2-1) of Annapolis, MD (four-round middleweight). Bouts are subject to change.
Doors open at 6:30 pm with the first fight set for 7:30 pm. Tickets cost $35, $50, $75, $125, $200, $300 and $500 (plus applicable service charge) and can be purchased through Ticketmaster by logging onto www.ticketmaster.com, calling phone charge at 703-573-SEAT, 202-397-SEAT or 410-547-SEAT or by visiting any Ticketmaster outlet, including the Patriot Center box office (703-993-3000).
FAIRFAX, VA (June 1, 2010) — Celebrate summer with the ‘sweet science’ as popular junior middleweight contender Jimmy Lange (31-4-2, 22 KOs) of Great Falls, VA headlines another exciting Ice Promotions boxing event on Saturday, July 10 at the Patriot Center. Dubbed “No Excuses” and presented by Valcourt Building Services , the event will showcase seven professional bouts featuring many of the region’s best fighters. Tickets can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Patriot Center box office, with prices starting at $35.
Lange looks to get back on the winning track after losing his World Boxing Council (WBC) USNBC Championship title to Chase Shields in a 12-round decision last March. The opponent for Lange, who also held the WBC’s Continental Americas 154-pound belt, has not yet been named. One of the region’s top draws based on his attractive fighting style, tremendous heart and overall positive character, Lange has gone 6-2-1 in front of large crowds as the Patriot Center headliner over the past six years. The Bishop O’Connell graduate was showcased on the first season of the NBC reality boxing TV series The Contender. His bout will be a 10-round contest.
The eight-round co-main event promises to be an exciting welterweight (non-title) showdown between Baltimore’s Tim “Pitt Bull” Coleman (17-1-1, 4 KOs) and tough southpaw Damian Fuller (30-7-1, 14 KOs) of Detroit. Coleman is coming off a win against Mike Arnaoutis for the vacant United States Boxing Association (USBA) 140-pound belt last December. Meanwhile, veteran southpaw Fuller lost to world contender Lamont Peterson in his most recent fight held April 10, 2010. Both have fought previously at the Patriot Center – Coleman won his third pro fight impressively against Spencer Harsley on September 17, 2005, while Fuller successfully beat another “Pitt Bull”, Dean White, on the May 12, 2007 card.
Fighting out of LA Boxing (Chantilly, Reston/Herndon and Woodbridge), Jennifer Salinas (11-1, 4 KOs) of Manassas, VA will fight in a six-round contest against an undetermined opponent. Tough and talented with beauty to match, “The Bolivian Queen” has developed a strong following in the region when she returned to the ring in 2009 after giving birth to her second child in 2008.
In his first four pro fights, Juan “The Savior” Rodriguez (4-0, 4 KOs) of Haymarket, VA has rarely been tested, scoring knock outs of each opponent — three before the end of round one. Training out of Olympic Boxing Center in Falls Church, VA, the 20-year old fighter’s reputation as one of the best welterweight prospects continues to grow, drawing notice from around the boxing world. His nickname pays homage to his parents who are natives of El Salvador. Dontre King (2-7-1, 1 KOs) of Cambridge, MD, a tough competitor with deceptive ring record, will face Rodriguez in a six-round welterweight contest.
After recording what many believe was the beltway’s top knockout of 2009, Tony “Mo Better” Jeter (9-2, 8 KOs) of Columbia, MD is poised to bring his punching prowess back to the Patriot Center to face Reston, VA’s Lawrence Jones (3-2-1, 1 KO) in a six-round middleweight bout. Training out of Severna Park, MD’s Club One Fitness, Jeter dropped Keith Gross with one punch on the September 26, 2009 Patriot Center card, instantly becoming the talk of the Beltway boxing community. Since returning to the pro ranks after a three-year layoff from 2005 to 2008, Jeter has gone undefeated in five bouts. In his last contest, Jones, representing LA Boxing, earned a split decision win over Vincent Batteast in a heavily-contested affair last March in Fairfax.
Promising middleweight prospect Brandon Quarles from Alexandria Boxing Club, who boasts 40 amateur wins and Golden Gloves experience, will make his professional debut against Vince “The Beast” Batteast (1-2-1) of Annapolis, MD in a four-round middleweight contest.
Doors open at 6:30 pm with the first fight set for 7:30 pm. Tickets, priced at $35, $50, $75, $100, $125, $200, $300 and $500 (plus applicable service charge), can be purchased through Ticketmaster by logging onto www.ticketmaster.com, calling phone charge at 703-573-SEAT, 202-397-SEAT or 410-547-SEAT or by visiting any Ticketmaster outlet, including the Patriot Center box office (703-993-3000).
“Lights-Out” Controversy Stops 9th Round Lange Charge, Shields Storms to Victory
Fairfax, VA – Houston’s Chase “The White Tiger” Shields captured the World Boxing Council’s (WBC) U.S. National Boxing Championship (USNBC) 154-lb. title in a controversial, but unanimous 12-round decision (115-111, 115-111, 115-111) over Jimmy Lange of Great Falls, VA Saturday night at the Patriot Center in hard-fought, action-packed bout before 5,123 fans.
After both fighters had gone toe-to-toe up to this point, Shields (30-3-1, 14 KOs) seemed to be in trouble in the 9th round when the lights above the ring suddenly went out, halting the action for nearly six minutes. After the lights were restored, Lange (31-4-2, 21 KOs), seemingly lost his momentum and was not able to pick up where he left off. Meanwhile, Shields regained his composure during the break in action and came back to score knockdowns in the 10th and 11th rounds. Lange attempted a final push in the 12th round but the hometown favorite was unable to close down the tough Texan.
“Jimmy came out flat tonight and, frankly, stunk up the place,” said manager/father Johnny Lange. “It’s early in the process, but we would like a rematch, even if it means traveling to Houston and fighting in front of Shields’ fans.”
“Weight” Watchers Invited to Tysons Corner Center March 5th
To Experience Official Weigh-in with Elite Athletes
Jimmy Lange Championship Boxing Returns March 6 to Patriot Center
FAIRFAX, VA (February 24, 2010) — Some of the area’s best-built and chiseled professional boxers will strut their stuff down the red carpet (and remove all but their underwear before being weighed) as part of the Official Weigh-In Event to be held at Tysons Corner Center (1961 Chain Bridge Road, McLean, VA 22102 www.shoptysons.com) on Friday, March 5 at Noon, Ice promotion officials announced. Free and open to the public, the event is being staged at one of the east coast’s largest shopping malls one day before the Jimmy Lange Championship Boxing Event presented by Valcourt Building Service returns to the Patriot Center on Saturday, March 6. Tickets will be available for purchase at the weigh-in.
The event will have an unconventional twist and feel as the boxers will walk down a red carpet path to the beat of a DJ prior to stepping on the scales where the Virginia Boxing Commission will record their official weight. Official underwear will be provided by lululemon athletica.
“Professional boxers are some of the world’s best-conditioned athletes who train extremely hard to sculpt their bodies into powerful, fighting-machines,” said Jackie Kallen, aka “The First Lady of Boxing” who heads Ice Promotions. “The public weigh-in is a great place to check these guys out and visually appreciate all of the hard work that goes into their strenuous training regimen. Instead of thin, high-heeled super models, fans can expect to see elite athletes in great shape. And, yes the question of ‘boxers’ or ‘briefs’ will be unveiled.”
Kallen understands the role that show business plays in the sport as her life inspired the major motion picture, Against the Ropes, with Megan Ryan portraying the boxing manager/promoter/journalist. She also starred alongside Main Event fighter Jimmy Lange on the first season of the hit boxing reality TV show The Contender
Limited seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis at the weigh-in which will be staged outside of the Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant inside Tysons Corner Center. Fans are invited to purchase lunch on Gordon Biersch’s patio with a direct view of all the action.
Highlighting the eight-bout March 6 card will be the 12-Round Main Event featuring world contender Jimmy Lange (31-3-2, 21 KOs) of Great Falls, VA defending his World Boxing Council (WBC) U.S. National Boxing Championship (USNBC) 154-pound title against Chase “The White Tiger” Shields (29-3-1, 14 KOs) of Houston, TX. The rest of the “all-star nickname” lineup include: heavyweights Dwayne “The Big Ticket” McRae and Theron Johnson; cruiserweights Patrick “Cold Blood” Budd and Robert “Big Mac Attack” McConnell; light heavyweights Sergey Kovalev and Francois “The African Warrior” Ambang, super welterweights Vincent “The Beast” Batteast and Lawrence Jones; welterweights Bayan “The Mongolian Mongoose” Jargal, Louie Leija, Andrew “The Doo Man” Farmer, Ikem “The Warrior” Orji, Juan “The Savior” Rodriquez and Damien Butler.
Tickets for the March 6 event are priced at $30, $60, $85, $100, $125, $200, $300 and $500 (plus applicable service charge), and can be purchased through Ticketmaster by logging onto www.ticketmaster.com, calling 703-573-SEAT, 202-397-SEAT or 410-547-SEAT or by visiting any Ticketmaster outlet, including the Patriot Center box office (703-993-3030).

Jimmy Lange to Face “White Tiger” March 6 at Patriot Center
Virginia Contender to Defend WBC USNBC Title against Chase Shields
on World-Class Boxing Card.
FAIRFAX, VA (January 8, 2010) — Ice Promotions officials announced that on Saturday, March 6, 2010, Junior Middleweight contender Jimmy Lange (31-3-2, 21 KOs) of Great Falls, VA will continue his climb towards a world title shot as he defends his World Boxing Council (WBC) U.S. National Boxing Championship (USNBC) 154-pound title against Chase “The White Tiger” Shields (29-3-1, 14 KOs) of Houston, TX at the Patriot Center. The 12-round title bout will headline a world-class professional boxing card showcasing top fighters from across the region and country. Tickets for the event, presented by Valcourt Building Services, start at $30 and can be purchased through all Ticketmaster outlets.
“I’m excited that JD Brown (matchmaker) and our promotional team were able to put this fight together. From what we I’ve learned and by looking at his record, Chase Shields is an extremely-talented boxer with good punching power. This could very well be the toughest fight thus far in my career,” said Lange. “However, I am completely confident that my trainers, Don Turner and Jimmy Glenn, will create the best strategy for me to defeat him. I can’t wait to go ‘tiger’ hunting.”
Voted “Fan Favorite” on the first season of The Contender television series, Lange has headlined all eight pro shows at the Patriot Center in front of large, enthusiastic crowds. On May 2, 2009, he captured his WBC title in a bout against Frank Houghtaling, who retired at the start of the 6th round after absorbing a tremendous amount of punishment including a first-round knockdown. In his most recent fight held last September against former Contender teammate Jonathan Reid, Lange displayed an effective jab and retained his title when Reid failed to show for the 10th round.
“From fighters, trainers, promoters and all others in the boxing community, I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without all of their tremendous support,” continued Lange, currently rated #10 by the North American Boxing Federation and #30 in the world by the WBC at 154-pounds. “As always, I tip my hat to all of them, many of whom have been by my side since the very beginning. Once again fighting in front of the greatest fans in the world is an honor and a privilege, and for this I thank them.”
Meanwhile Shields, a former strong safety on the Texas Southern University football team, has also drawn big crowds since turning pro in 2002. Shields stepped up in competition in his last fight held on December 3, 2009, where he faced former world title contender Juan Carlos Candelo. Shields initially dominated his former sparring partner, winning the first two rounds and knocking the cagey veteran down in the third, but ultimately fell short when Candelo came back to stop Shields with a 7th round TKO. A tough, powerful puncher with the ability to switch from an orthodox stance to south paw during a fight presents a real challenge for Lange.
“I’m very excited about fighting Jimmy Lange,” said Shield who trains at Houston’s Main Boxing Gym under veteran trainer Bobby Benton. “I’ve seen some footage of him and he’s a good fighter who reminds me of Jason Papillion. It’s definitely a step up in competition and will be a good test for me.”
Both fighters hold victories against their one common opponent, veteran Joshua Smith. Lange defeated Smith via 10-round decision in 2003, while Shields earned a pair of six-round decisions against him in 2006 and 2007, respectively.
Tickets, priced at $30, $60, $85, $100, $125, $200, $300 and $500 (plus applicable service charge), can be purchased through Ticketmaster by logging onto www.ticketmaster.com, calling 703-573-SEAT, 202-397-SEAT or 410-547-SEAT or by visiting any Ticketmaster outlet, including the Patriot Center box office (703-993-3030).
